Stroke is the third leading cause of disability worldwide, and the inability to walk is a frequent and one of the most severe consequences. Between 20% and 25% of all stroke survivors are unable to walk without full physical assistance and never regain functional ability. They need a wheelchair for life and suffer from the health issues, social challenges, and emotional disorders that this provokes.
Our purpose is to improve the quality of life and health for millions of individuals with severe, chronic stroke disabilities who will never fully rehabilitate. We will achieve this by enabling them to standup and walk again, helping to alleviate the numerous health problems and disorders associated with wheelchair living and empowering them to regain independence. Our goal is to develop both the technology and the conditions that make it possible for them to walk every day, without medical supervision, at home, and in their communities, to provide a true alternative to the wheelchair, restoring joy and hope for them and their loved ones.We envision a world where affordability, ergonomics, and access to essential services areno longer barriers to the disruptive technology that, for the first time, can make this vision a reality.
